Muslims require that a game be slaughtered according to divinely ordained rules as explicitly defined by God himself to his final messenger. God being the creator knows about his creation more than we do , hence it is fairseeming to have God himself recommend us on how to slaughter animals for consumption.
A chicken or any of the permissible animal has to be slaughtered by taking the name of Allah as per many verses of the Quran:
“And consume not of that whereupon the name of Allah Ta'ala was omitted (at the time of slaughter). Indeed it is a transgression. Verily the Shayateen inspire their friends to cause division with you. If you obey them, you are indeed Mushriks (ascribing partners to Allah).” (Al-An'am 6:121)
“Forbidden to you are Maytah (carrion), flowing blood, the flesh of swine and that slaughtered for other than Allah as well as the (animal) expiring by strangulation, illness or pain, falling (from a height), by a wound (sustained through fighting) and by falling to a predator and (about to be consumed), excepting those (animals) upon which you effect Zakah (Shar'ee slaughter).” (Al-Maidah 5:3)
A non halal chicken turkey differs from the halal meat in following ways:
It is slaughtered by a Muslim, Jew or monotiest Christian and Allah's (God's) name is pronounced at the time of slaughter i.e invoking (Bismillah Allahu Akbar);
The instrument used for slaughtering is very sharp and the trachea is cut swiftly so as to not cause undue pain to the chicken whereas for the non halal electroluted chicken she may be stunned or cut without first cutting the trachea which has been proven to cause pain and accumulate toxins in the meat.
- The chicken or animal being slaughtered is not able to see the other animals being slaughtered.
Blood should be drained out completely of the slaughtered animal; In the non halal version of a chiken blood is usually not drained out which causes toxins to accumulate in the meat increasung the carinogenity of the meat . It also increaes chances of infected meat
Meat slaughtered by Islamic way remains fresh for a longer time due to lack of coagulated blood in the meat as compared to other methods of slaughtering.
This tradition of slaughtering by cutting the trachea has been practiced since biblical times , even today jews practice an almost similar slaughtering method to make it kosher. For a Muslim even meat slaughtered by Jews is allowed if they follow the correct procedure enshrined by God.
